The Round up

The process of creating the Advanced portolio has been long and stressfull journey. I’ve learn’t New skills in the Filming and editing and have broaden my knowledge on the music industry.I think there is a development in my work from the start of the Advanced portfolio to the end. I started of using prezi and screen shots a lot and gradually broaden my horizons to uses different websites and technology. Overall I enjoyed the Advanced Portfolio and I think I have learn’t skills that would help me become a better film maker.

Audience Feedback survey

I decided to get some audience feedback to get some idea on their views of the effectiveness of the combination of my main product and ancillary text.



From the survey I gather that the combination of  my music video and ancillary texts is very effective. 100% of the voters say the album and advertisement entices them to watch the music video,  100% say that they feel the music video entices them to buy the album. 66.67% of people say that they think about the album and advertisement after watching the music video, so the collaboration of both products promotes the album.  Only 1 of the 5 questions showed the combination of the ancillary texts and digital package was not very effective.

Production of ancillary products : Making improvements after Audience feedback

After getting audience feedback I realised i needed to make sure my album looked like a pop album.  I discovered people thought my album looked a little grunge and thought it was dub step and grime. I decided the background needed to be more colourful so i done more research into album background. I found that pop albums are usually simple and vibrant. I decided i would use a single bright colour but, as i got so much positive feedback about the interesting texture i had in my last background i'm going to also incorporate texture.

Today was a very productive editing session, I finished creating my album cover and became one step closer to completing my advert.

Planning Ancillary products: Photoshoot

Appearance : I wanted Athena to wear something very simple for the photo shoot as i was going to do a lot of editing so bright colours and patterns would make it a harder,   we went with  simple neutral block colours in either black or white.   I have seen a few pop artists wearing casual clothes on their album covers but its not common

 

I thought it would be a good idea if we made the hair slightly different as she had a bun in all the shots in the video,  i thought we should keep the same Look and use minimal make up,  simple and natural would become known as Raven Kings style.

Location : 

I needed to shoot in a similar setting to a studio where i was able to get a white background so it was easy to remove the image from the background in the editing stages.  I was unable to use the studio but  found a white wall with good lighting where i was able to take the photographs

Planning ancillary products : Advertisement

I decided to advertise Raven Kings album in WE LOVE POP. 

I made this choice because it's a magazine that promotes both big and small pop stars, it  prioritises the pop genre with the name 'WE LOVE POP.  The other option was billboard magazines as it is a well known magazine and brand that promotes a variety of artists,  however i decided this choice probably wouldn't be realistic because Raven King is an upcoming artist so she would be more likely to feature in a smaller magazine as she isn't established in  mainstream  yet.

The style of my advertisement  

I want to advertise Raven Kings album in the style of a magazine advert.  I decided this would be a great choice as it's something that I've seen done by a lot of modern pop artists and I think this would be  more of an appropriate choice than a billboard poster or a tour flyer. This flyer would most likely be accompanied by a small interview with Raven King thats on another page. 

When creating the magazine poster there are some important things i wanted to include  

• Simplicity 
• Informative
• Eye catching
• Synergy
• Representation of the artist style
